Chop Shop @ The Grammys

GrammyCrew

On Sunday night, the Chop Shop crew was in attendance for The Grammy Awards in downtown LA. We were fortunate enough to receive a nomination for the Twilight Soundtrack, and even though we didn’t take home the gramophone, we all had a great time.

Getting to be in the room with so many talented people was a trip, and seeing legendary artists like Elton John, Jeff Beck, and Smokey Robinson perform wasn’t too bad either. Who knew Pink could do that, by the way?

After the show, we went to the Warner Music After-Party at XIV in Hollywood. Several who were nominated and won Grammys were there celebrating with, what seemed like everyone else from the music industry. We may or may not have been stalking Sheryl Crow for a good portion of the night.

Overall, we had a wonderful time and it was a night that none of us will soon forget. Thanks to everyone for your support and encouragement. Hopefully we will get a chance to go back again in the future!

Also, there might be some video footage of us walking the red carpet making an appearance soon, so stay tuned. Here’s a little preview:

Hey kids, remember to watch the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday January 31st at 8PM on CBS. The Twilight Soundtrack is nominated for Best Soundtrack and we are all crossing our fingers that Alex brings home a little gramophone trophy (which I hear are bigger than you might imagine).

The catch is that this category won’t actually be aired during the telecast. But I’m sure there will be one of those snazzy commercial lead ins that will give the winner, so make sure you pay very close attention!

The whole Chop Shop crew is going to be in attendance so make sure you follow us on Twitter for all the updates and TwitPic’s from the festivities.

Stephenie Meyer Posts About Twilight Soundtrack

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Over on StephenieMeyer.com, the author of The Twilight Saga had some very nice things to say about the Twilight Soundtrack and our very own Alex Patsavas.

Here’s what Stephenie Meyer had to say:

A big congratulations to everyone involved with creating the awesome Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! The Grammy nomination is fantastic and also well-deserved. It is an honor to have such talented artists and bands contributing to the Twilight film. Congrats also to Alex Patsavas for doing such an inspired job of bringing them all together.

Thanks,

Stephenie

We are thrilled about the Grammy nomination and so fortunate to have been able to work on such a great project.

Thank You Stephenie!

Anya Marina Goes Over The Moon

The craze surrounding the New Moon Soundtrack has the people over at the social networking site MySpace noticing Chop Shop artist Anya Marina. Yesterday she was featured as the Artist Of The Day and premiered her new track “Satellite Heart”, which you have probably heard by now, is on the New Moon Soundtrack.

If you like what you hear, you can pre-order the soundtrack on iTunes today and get an instant download of “Satellite Heart”!

How about that? Not too shabby, eh?

——–

Here is a note from Anya about writing “Satellite Heart” for New Moon:

A few months ago, I was asked by Chris Weitz (the director of the new Twilight movie (New Moon) to come in to his office to screen the latest Twilight movie, New Moon. I guess he’d heard my cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and really liked it. Naturally, I was thrilled. I heard all sorts of my favorite bands were being considered for the soundtrack (Thom Yorke, Death Cab, Grizzly Bear, etc). In fact, on the day of my own private screening, as I walked in, The Killers were making their way out.

oh.

em.

gee.

Suffice it to say, the movie was great and I got really inspired to adapt a new song I’d been working on to suit Bella and Edward and their whole drama. I got together with my friend, producer [and mixer on Slow & Steady...] Ken Andrews, and we recorded a pretty mean version of a new song called “Satellite Heart.”

When I heard that Chris decided not only to include Satellite Heart in my favorite scene in New Moon, but also in the soundtrack, I was–pardon the pun–over the moon. I can’t wait to see it in the movie or for you to hear some of the straight-up sick remixes that’ll be coming out soon, too. For now, stream the song (and check out the lyrics) on MySpace, and then pre-order the soundtrack through iTunes to be able to download ‘Satellite Heart’ instantly.

Enjoy. See you in November!

I have a prediction…

The second installment of the Twilight series, New Moon is going to be a huge hit.

There I said it!

Okay, probably not the most outrageous prediction, but the November release of New Moon is getting closer and there is quite a buzz surrounding the film. Here at Chop Shop, we had the privilege of working on music for Twilight, and are currently in the process of getting music together for New Moon as well. It is shaping up to be quite a film, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.

If you are as eager as we are, but don’t want to wait, you can check out the newly released promo for New Moon below. It’s not very long, but you can get a small taste of what to expect from the film.
