On The Road

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Last weekend I had a chance to head down to San Diego and check out the Street Scene music festival. Highlights were performances by The Dead Weather, Carney, Girl Talk, and of course Anya Marina. It was a hot and sweaty couple days, but I had great time.

Before her stellar performance on Saturday night, Anya did a couple interviews you can check out here:

NBC San Diego about getting her start as a DJ in SD.

-  Video interview from Sign On San Diego about life on the road:

Song Of The Day: Matt

Part The White Stripes.

Part The Raconteurs.

Part Queens Of The Stone Age.

Part The Kills.

Equals The Dead Weather.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been a huge fan of Jack White (gasp!). Not that I don’t like him, or don’t think he is insanely talented, but I just never really got into his music. Well that has pretty much gone out the window with The Dead Weather’s new album, “Horehound”. The fuzzed out guitars, shared vocals between White and Alison Mosshart (The Kills), and frantic song arrangements have me believing that classic guitar riff rock is still alive.
