“Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.)” – Monsters Of Folk
It’s been a pretty good year for super groups. First, The Dead Weather and now Monsters of Folk (looking forward to Them Crooked Vultures too). The combination of Conor Oberst, M.Ward, Jim James, and Mike Mogis has the feeling of a modern day Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young.
I love this song because it is not what you would expect a song from a band called Monsters Of Folk to sound like. It starts off with a drum track and a string arrangement that immediately draws you in and sounds like something off the newest Jay-Z album. Beyond that, the vibe, the lyrics, the harmonies, the space…it’s all there, and it’s all amazing.
