If you are in the greater Los Angeles area tomorrow night, there is a unique opportunity to be a part of the filming of Nico Stai’s upcoming music video for “Dead Pony”. The event is being held at Ghettogloss in Hollywood and is FREE!! Doors open at 8:30pm and Nico will be playing a full set with his band later in the night. Promises to be an epic event that you won’t want to miss.

If you are looking for an alternative to college football tomorrow and want to experience some good music and a unique experience in downtown LA, you should check out the final installment of the Plays Well With Others Rooftop Sunset Series. Plays Well With Others is an organization that pairs music and social causes to create positive change in the world. For this event, they are teaming with three fantastic causes – Tiny Stars, Falling Whistles, and Awaken.
Our good friends Vienne and Deerheart will be performing, so don’t miss out. See you there!
The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Castelaz, the six-year-old son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill. On May 17, 2008, Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of children’s cancer. Pablo fought courageously and lost his battle with cancer on June 27, 2009.
In their fight to raise money and awareness about childhood cancer, Jeff will be biking across country with a friend. Pablove Across America starts on October 10th and they are taking donations now.

Coming up this weekend in LA (August 22 & 23) is the Sunset Junction Street Festival. It’s perfect for those who live in the area and are looking to see some live music, hang with the hipster crowd, and drink Intellegentsia coffee. There is also a great group of artists performing this year like Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, The Submarines and one of our favorites, Nico Stai, who is playing on Sunday the 23rd at 12:40pm on the Bates Stage. Definitely check him out!

Driving around Los Angeles you can’t go more than a few miles without seeing an ad promoting the new season of Mad Men. Judging by the promos and posters, I’m willing to bet that season 3 will be just as successful as the first two. The music will be pretty good too!
Grab your cigarettes and a choice beverage and tune in to the premiere this Sunday, August 19th on AMC at 10pm.

If you haven’t already, check out the web-series Rockville, CA that Alex Patsavas Co-Produced with Josh Schwartz, the mastermind behind The O.C. and Gossip Girl. Each webisode features a different band/artist that performs LIVE…none of that over-dub/lip-syncing stuff here! Make sure to watch the performances by Nico Stai, Lykke Li, and White Lies…they are amazing. If you look closely, you might even be able to see the back of my head in the crowd during Phantom Planet.
