Last week, the new television drama Flash Forward debuted as the highest rated premiere ever in the 8pm slot on a Thursday. The show pulled in a total of 12.5 million viewers and has people all over buzzing with conspiracy theories and comparisons to another hit ABC show, LOST.

If you didn’t get a chance to watch, you can check out the first episode online at abc.com.

Oh, and another little show called Grey’s Anatomy premiered its 6th Season directly following Flash Forward. It did pretty good too.

Nothing like 3 straight hours of Chop Shop Music to fill up your Thursday night!

Keep watching!

“Dog Days Are Over” – Florence & The Machine

I haven’t heard a voice like this in a while. It’s like Adele joined an indie rock band and started singing about wolves and coffins. I swear I hear early Sarah McLachlan (think “Vox” from Touch) in her voice on this album as well. Lungs tops my list of favorite records of the year.

Yep. I said it.

Anya Marina Goes Over The Moon

The craze surrounding the New Moon Soundtrack has the people over at the social networking site MySpace noticing Chop Shop artist Anya Marina. Yesterday she was featured as the Artist Of The Day and premiered her new track “Satellite Heart”, which you have probably heard by now, is on the New Moon Soundtrack.

If you like what you hear, you can pre-order the soundtrack on iTunes today and get an instant download of “Satellite Heart”!

How about that? Not too shabby, eh?

——–

Here is a note from Anya about writing “Satellite Heart” for New Moon:

A few months ago, I was asked by Chris Weitz (the director of the new Twilight movie (New Moon) to come in to his office to screen the latest Twilight movie, New Moon. I guess he’d heard my cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and really liked it. Naturally, I was thrilled. I heard all sorts of my favorite bands were being considered for the soundtrack (Thom Yorke, Death Cab, Grizzly Bear, etc). In fact, on the day of my own private screening, as I walked in, The Killers were making their way out.

oh.

em.

gee.

Suffice it to say, the movie was great and I got really inspired to adapt a new song I’d been working on to suit Bella and Edward and their whole drama. I got together with my friend, producer [and mixer on Slow & Steady...] Ken Andrews, and we recorded a pretty mean version of a new song called “Satellite Heart.”

When I heard that Chris decided not only to include Satellite Heart in my favorite scene in New Moon, but also in the soundtrack, I was–pardon the pun–over the moon. I can’t wait to see it in the movie or for you to hear some of the straight-up sick remixes that’ll be coming out soon, too. For now, stream the song (and check out the lyrics) on MySpace, and then pre-order the soundtrack through iTunes to be able to download ‘Satellite Heart’ instantly.

Enjoy. See you in November!

“Casa Bey” – Mos Def

[audio http://magnetmagazine.com/audio/CasaBey.mp3]

I thought we should get a different flavor in here today.

Nothing wrong with a little hip-hop soul in the afternoon, right?

Mos Def is one of those artists that can pretty much do it all. Kinda makes you sick, but you can’t help but love him. This song is one of my favorites off his newest album, The Ecstatic.

Enjoy!
